should be installed in the suction line from the pool between the pump and the
filter. The dual thermistor format in the ISD-1.0-10K sensor satisfies two

and two wires going to the Display position on the low voltage terminal strip.
This can be verified through ohm resistance.
Note: Theoretically, the 2-wire IS-1.0-10k
sensors can be used in conjunction with the display unit by incorporating two
IS-1.0-10k sensors side-by-side. The
IS-1.0-10k sensor for the display can be placed anywhere in the system (return
from solar, ambient air, spa) to get a temperature reading at the controller
The pool water sensor is attached to the PVC pipe; this
requires drilling a hole in the PVC pipe, and using the stainless steel hose
clamp (included) to secure the sensor in
The AS-2-10 is an all-aluminum sensor block,
designed to both quickly and precisely determine solar radiation [sun's rays],
and then simulate the internal water temperature of the collector panels caused
by the solar absorption. The sensor is placed in direct sunlight and mounted to
the roof using a screw or adhesive.
The sensor instantly signals the controller unit, which
sends the required command to the 3-Way FloVerter Valve.

plus detect when the right amount of solar energy is available.
It also reacts to cloudy conditions and the setting sun more rapidly than

Sensor - Installation Instructions:
Install black aluminum sensor where it
will receive sunlight similar to the solar collectors. Use a cable clamp and TEK
screw to mount [not included]. The cable clamp serves as a strain relief for the

sensor into 1-1/2” or 2” pipe to sense pool water temperature. Drill 5/16”
diameter hole into pipe and install by using stainless steel clamp. Wires go
through the hole punched into the clamp. This sensor goes into pipe ahead of the
solar collector, usually near the pump.
Use 3M Scotchlok connectors [part
number UY-2] for connecting the sensor leads to your interconnecting cable. Tie
a knot with the cable wires and the sensor leads to function as a strain relief.
Wire ends must not be stripped. Insert the insulated wire ends into the UY-2 and
with pliers, press the round disc into place, locking the connection. Note that
UY-2 is an improved connector over the UY because it makes a double contact with
the wires and also accommodates larger wires.
Solar Sensor application troubleshooting tips:
Most well known brand controllers incorporate the use of 10k
sensors. Some lesser known brands used 3k sensors. All GoldLine
and Heliomatic controls use of 10k sensors.
To determine the type of sensor, the resistance must be measured
using a volt/ohm meter when the sensor is at 77 degrees F.
10,000 ohms and 3k measures 3,000 ohms.
As the temperature goes up, the
resistance goes down.
Resistance can be checked at any temperature, and
convert the ohm reading measured to the temperature equivalent
using the conversion chart.
