If there appears to only be box damage and you decide to keep your cover for further inspection, be sure to note the box damage on the receipt you will be required to sign so a claim can be filed on your behalf keep a copy of the signed and noted receipt for your records. If the package is accepted without any damage noted, any damage found or any claims needing to be filed will be the responsibility of the consignee.
